Olisa Corcoran

I’m a Durham, NC-based textile artist & sometimes writer, with a focus on text, self-portraiture & texture. I embroider, sketch and experiment.

I juggle my artwork with a career in the salt mines of the biotech industry. It is a struggle to maintain both lives. Right now I'm running on fumes.

Latinx. Nuryorican. Feminist.

For several years I wrote a column,  Inspired to Stitch, on Mr X Stitch, an international website at the forefront of the contemporary embroidery movement. Although I'm taking a break from writing, I'm still interested in the use of social media to unite artists from around the world.
